My Work Experience

Media Team Member

School of Theatre and Dance (STAD), JMU

January 2024 - Present

While working on the Media Team for the School of Theatre and Dance at James Madison University, I have gotten the chance to work on a small team of students under direct guidance from the school’s administrative specialist, Haley Davis. In this position, I have gotten to try my hand at many different jobs and artistic endeavors under the umbrella of social media publicity including: social media management, production/event advertisement, graphic design, project planning, photography, and more!

Publicist of A Wrinkle in Time

Forbes Studio Theatre, JMU

September - November 2024

As co-publicist for A Wrinkle in Time at JMU’s Studio Theatre, I was able to put my creative advertising, management, and leadership skills into direct use and collaboration with one another. I worked closely with MaryKatherin Patteson to create a brand guide, content calendar and posting schedule to publicize the show for the 2 week period of it’s run. My responsibilities included videography, photography, graphic design, and poster/program creation.

Marketing Intern

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden

May - August 2024

Richmond, VA

I worked as a summer marketing intern at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. Because of the small marketing team, I got to work closely with the marketing personnel to get hands on and direct collaboration and learning experiences. My responsibilities under this job title had a heavy focus on social media event coverage, photography, social media content creation, and graphic design.

On the executive board for BIPOC of STAD at James Madison University, I work with a team of other STAD students to plan meetings, events, and opportunities to support the BIPOC students in the School of Theatre and Dance. As the publicity head, I run the Instagram account, graphic design, and publicize the club’s events and meetings.

Being the assistant sound designer for JMU’s Studio Theatre production of Circle Mirror Transformation gave me the chance to try my hand in sound design, under guidance from the head sound designer, Emily Doppee. I was able to get hands on experience working in QLab, creating custom sound design in Garage Band, and individually run a tech rehearsal cue-to-cue.

Teacher/Choreographer

Cadence Theatre

Summer 2023, Summer 2024

Richmond, VA

As a teacher and choreography for Cadence Theatre’s Jammin’ in July and Jammin’ in August Summer camps, I taught 4-10 year olds musical theatre style dance. Leading them in warm ups, running rehearsals, and teaching young children taught me patience, time management, and effective education skills. Working collaboratively with the other teachers and members of the artistic team, we were able to put on a full musical production in the span of 2 weeks with our students. I was lucky enough to get to choreography Shrek Jr., Finding Nemo Kids, and Lion King Kids over the past two summers with Cadence.
